Heart Pieces are hearts with a crystal frame like seen below. They can increase the # of your heart containers by one heart. Those types of Heart Pieces are easy to find. After fighting a boss, simply search the room near where the boss died and pick up the Heart Piece. There are 8 of those types in the game. The other type needs four to complete a full heart container. They look similar but the heart in the center is much smaller. There are 36 possible of that type in the game. Only one of them is available in a dungeon. The towns and fields are in order they appear in your adventure. Here is the entire list. LOST WOODS (2) #1 - Child - When you enter the Lost Woods take the first left and climb up on to the small stump. A Skullkid should appear. Play Saria's Song for him. #2 - Child - When you enter the Lost Woods, take the first right and climb down the ladder. Walk onto the small stump and two Skullkids should appear. Talk to them and repeat the song that they play. Make sure to get it right! HYRULE FIELD (2) #1 - Both - Use a Bomb or the Megaton Hammer in the center of the fenced off area at the entrance to Lake Hylia to reveal a secret grotto. #2 - Both - Inbetween the north side of Lonlon Ranch and a small stream there is a tree. Place a bomb at it's trunk to reveal a secret grotto. LONLON RANCH (1) #1 - Child - Go inside the storage shed at the north side of the ranch. Move the crates until you can enter a small hole in the corner wall. HYRULE MARKET TOWN (3) #1 - Child - It is easier if you have the Lens of Truth. At night time go to the right right when you enter the main plaza. There should be a door near the entrance to the Alleyway that won't open during the day. Enter and pay the cashier to play. Enter the frst door and pick a treasure chest. One has the key and the other has rupees. If you choose to cheat and use the Lens of Truth you can see right through the chest. #2 - Child - Go into the Bombchu Bowling buildling (the one with the stairs) and keep playing until the cashier reveals a Piece of Heart as your prize. Make sure to aim before you take out your Bombchu and time your throws to avoid the obstacles and the gaps in the wall on the wall during the third shot. #3 - Child - At night time go find the white dog to the left of the entrance to the main plaza. It will be under the balcony and behind the merchant's booth. Let it sniff you and it will follow you around. Take it to the Alleyway entrance near the treasure chest game. Go in the second door (the other one is the Bombchu Shop). Talk to the lady and she will reward you for returning her puppie named Richard. Make sure not to get Richard mixed up with the other white dogs. KAKARIKO VILLAGE (3) #1 - Both - As an adult use the Longshot to reach the top of Impa's House (the big house on the east wall) and drop down right against the side of the north side of the house. Make sure to aim before you drop. Enter the crack in the wall and get the piece in front of the cow. As a child, go to the very top of Death Mountain Trail and talk to Kaepora Gaebora (the owl). When he gets off the sign, go under his shadow and wait a second. He will fly you to the top of Impa's House. Go to the north side and drop straight down. Go inside and get it. #2 - Both - As an adult use the Longshot to get to the top of Impa's House. Then turn around and use it again to reach the roof of the house with the guy on top. Talk to him and he will give the Heart Piece to you. As a child grab a cucco and float into the area that is blocked off near the Windmill entrance. Drop the cucco and climb the ladder to get the cucco. Float to the roof from that ledge. #3 - Both - Kill 50 Gold Skulltulas and collect their tokens. Talk to the newly released child in the House of Skulltula to receive it. GRAVEYARD (5) #1 - Child - Pay Dampe at the time he is out at a dirt spot on the path. He should uncover a Heart Piece eventually. #2 - Adult - Enter Dampe's Grave and beat his race in under 1 minute. Make sure you've already gotten the Hookshot from him, otherwise he wouldn't give it to you, he'd give you the Hookshot. We suggest you use the Longshot in the final circle room. Shoot the torch and it will save you about 10 seconds. #3 - Adult - After you have completed Dampe's race, you should enter the inside of the Windmill. Time your jump onto the spinning platform and let it rotate to the platform with the Heart Piece on it. Jump over to be rewarded. #4 - Adult - Step on the Magic Bean Sprout that rises you to a platform with a crate. Roll into it to reveal the Heart Piece. Make sure you planted the Magic Bean while you were a child. #5 - Both - At night pull the grave third to the right at the top row. Enter the secret grotto and kill the ReDead. Play the Sun's Song to reveal a treasure chest. DEATH MOUNTAIN TRAIL (1) #1 - Both - As a child go to the Bomb Flower above the entrance to Dodongo's Cavern. Throw the Bomb Flower so it is out of your way. Quickly face the Goron and do a back flip over the small part of the fence. Hopefully you will land on the ledge with the Heart Piece. It is much easier as an adult. You can do the above or just use the Magic Bean Sprout. If you miss the ledge the first time, stay on and the Sprout will take you to the sedge a second time. GORON CITY (1) #1 - Child - Light all the torches at the lowest level with a Deku Stick to set the giant urn spinning. Once it is spinning, go up one level. Throw a Bomb on top of the urn to blow the lid off. Throw another Bomb inside the urn this time to make it stop. A Heart Piece and a lot of rupees should appear. DEATH MOUNTAIN CRATER (2) #1 - Both - Enter Death Mountain Crater through the main entrance at the top of the mountain. Walk down to the cliff and climb down to the opening in the wall. In there you will find the Heart Piece. If you are a child hurry back out before you die. #2 - Adult - Use the Magic Bean Sprout at the warp entrance. It will fly you to the top of one of the two towers where the Heart Piece is hidden in smoke. ZORA'S RIVER (4) #1 - Child - Climb up on the drift wood and pull out the Ocarina of Time at the end of the log. Play the Song of Storms for the Fabulous Frog Chorus. #2 - Child - Once you have made all the frogs grow by playing Ocarina songs, they will ask you to play a game. You will notice a pattern in the frogs' position that looks like the A and C-buttons on your contoller. When a bug appears above a certain frog, press the button that that frog corresponds to. You have to be very quick at this. THIS WILL TAKE MORE THAN ONE TRY! #3 - Both - As a child you have to grab the cucco at the begging of the river. Pass the Fabulous Frog Chorus and climb the two big steps. If your a child you throw the cucco up there then climb and grab it again. Walk to the corner and look to your right. If your an adult you can just jump down into the stream and climb on the island. As a child glide down with the cucco. Release the cucco and climb the ladder. Walk to the opposite side of the plateau. If your a child grab the cucco and float to the Heart Piece. As an adult you can do that or use the Hover Boots. #4 - Both - As a child bring the cucco at the begging of the River and bring it all the way to the waterfall at the entrance to Zora's Domain. Float over to the ledge against the wall or use the Hover Boots. ZORA'S DOMAIN (1) #1 - Child - Light a Deku Stick at the top of the Domain and light the torch in the stairway. Put away the Deku Stick and take it out again so you don't waste one. Jump down to the waterfall and go around under so you don't burn it out. Quickly light the torches to make a treasure shest appear. ZORA'S FOUNTAIN (2) #1 - Adult - Jump across the ice glaciers and onto the one with the Heart Piece on it. #2 - Adult - Use the Iron Boots and the Water Tunic to sink to the bottom of the Fountain. At the lowest point there should be a Heart Piece surrounded by rupees. ICE CAVERN (1) DUNGEON #1 - Adult - Put some Blue Fire into a bottle. Melt the Red Ice on the west side of the room with the spinning fan. Go in and get some more Blue Fire. Melt the Red Ice on the west side of the room near a Gold Skulltula. The compass is in that room too. LAKE HYLIA (3) #1 - Child - Catch a 10 pound fish at the fishing pond and talk to the Pond Owner. Ask him to weigh your fish and you will be rewarded with your big catch. We think it would be a lot easier if you find the sinking lure which can be found A.)in the grass, B.)on the log, or C.)by the stones at the stream. The 10-pounders can be found near the three bamboo(?) sticks on the far side of the pond. #2 - Both - Once you get the Golden Scale go to the Lakeside Laboratory. Dive all the way to the bottom of the water once incide. When you come back up talk to the Old Scientist to get a treat. #3 - Adult - Go to the east side of the Lakeside Laboratory. One way to get it is to play the Scarecrow's Song and make a Scarecrow appear on the roof. Use the Hookshot to get up there. You could also ride the Magic Bean Sprout up to the roof. Once your up there climb the ladder and watch out for annoying Guays. A Heart Piece is at the top. GERUDO VALLEY (2) #1 - Both - As a child take the cucco and go on the bridge. Turn right to face the waterfall. Glide down as far as you can and enter the hole in the wall to find it. As an adult you can jump down onto the small shore and use the Magic Bean Sprout. #2 - Both - As a child grab the cucco and go onto the bridge. Turn left to see a crate. Glide over there and release the cucco. Roll into the crate to find your reward. As an adult you can just use you Longshot. Unfortunately there is no return except to fall into the river and flow to Lake Hylia. GERUDO FORTRESS (2) #1 - Adult - Use the Longshot from the on top of the Jail (not the escape) or play the Scarecrow's Song near the treasure chest at the top of the Fortress. Open the treasure chest for your gift. #2 - Adult - Talk to the Gerudo at the northern most part of the Fortress while on Epona after you have gotten the Gerudo Membership Card. You first have to have gotten the Biggest Arrow Quiver at this place. She will offer you an Arching game. Epona will self navigate herself so all you have to do is aim and fire. If you score 1,000 points she will give you a Heart Piece. THIS WILL TAKE MORE THAN ONE TRY! DESERT COLLOSUS (1) #1 - Adult - Go on to the Magic Bean Sprout at the Temple entrance. It will take you around the area and near the end of its ride you will have to quickly jump onto the rock arch. Now you have all the Heart Pieces in the game! Beat all the Temples and Dungeons and you will have 20 hearts!
