Weapons and Items
Here is a list of every
single item used in the game. The first section is items SELECT ITEM SUBSCREEN (all of these are put on C-buttons) Child Deku Stick - A weak stick that breaks every time you hit it against something. You can light it on fire to burn something that isn't near a torch. Located when you slice a Deku Baba in half or at a shop. There is also one hidden near the bottom of Goron City. Cannot be found in bushes. You can hold more Deku sticks once you talk to the Business Scrub in the Lost Woods in the area where the bridge is (left, left). Also, if you show the Forest Stage in the Lost Woods (right, left, right, left, left and search the grass where the butterflies are, once you fall into the secret grotto put your mask on and enter the light) the Skull Mask they will dance around you. Go to the large leaf sticking out of the ground to the right and he will allow you to carry 30 Deku Sticks. Fairy Slingshot - A long-range weapon that is used very much. Hold down the C-button and aim then release. It's ammunition is rather weak, though. You find the Slingshot inside the Great Deku Tree (first dungeon). Ammunition (also known as Deku Seeds) can be found by killing enemies, breaking rocks, in bushes, and in shops. Magic Bean - There are ten Beanholes in all of Hyrule. Beanholes look like small dirt mounds with a small circle in the center. You plant the bean as a child then when you return to it as an adult, it will be a large plant that when you step on it will fly you around the area it is in. Magic Beans can be bought at Zora's River by the guy that looks like a frog sitting at the metal fence. The first Bean you buy is 10 rupees, second is 20, third is 30, etc... The final bean you buy is a whopping 100 rupees so you need at least the Adult's Wallet. The Magic Beans are only used for two reasons, one of which being the above. It is also used as a Sub - Fairy Fountain. Here are the Beanhole Locations: A.) At Zora's River right next to the Magic Bean Seller. B.) At Gerudo Valley down at the wooden shore at the bottom of the river next to the cow. C.) Desert Collosus to the left of the Spirit Temple's entrance. D.) Boomerang - The only way to defeat Bari enemies. Doesn't Require ammo. Used to activate switches on opposite sides of a small wall. It is better to use Lock-on Z-targeting with this when your up against an enemy. Found in a Treasure Chest inside Lord Jabu-jabu's Belly (third dungeon). Fairy Ocarina - A gift from Saria when you leave the forest. You can learn four songs on this ocarina. You can play songs with the four C buttons and the A button. Please see Ocarina Songs to learn all the songs in the game. Adult Hookshot - An awesome weapon that shoots a far distance (about the same as the boomerang) and can latch onto rough textures and pull you there. Also very affective against enemies. Can be found as the first ITEM SELECT weapon for Adult Link. It is in the Grave yard down the bottom of the lower left grave. You must race the ghost of Damp`e the Gravekeeper. When you win he'll give it to you. Fairy Bow - Very similar to the Fairy Bow but it is much stronger and faster. Can be found in the Forest Temple. Used a lot! Especially good against flying enemies such as Keese or Guays. Arrows can be found just about anywhere. Megaton Hammer - Extremely powerful! Can take down almost any ground enemy in one hit. Used to remove statues and boulders or activate rusty switches. It's weak spot is it is very slow. Longshot - Just the same as the Hookshot only twice as long. Found in the Water Temple. Fire Arrow - An arrow that uses MP2 of your Magic Meter (that means it takes 2 bits of your Magic Meter, very small). It sets any enemy it touches on fire and can light torches. Found when shooting an arrow into the sun during the morning at Lake Hylia on the center island after you beat the Water Temple. Ice Arrow - Uses MP2 of your Magic Meter. Freezes enemies temporarily into an ice stone so you can lay some damage on it without being hurt. Found in the Gerudo Training Ground when you get seven keys and go left when you choose what doors to go through. Light Arrow - Watch out, this one's powerful! Uses MP4 of your Magic Meter. Used against Ganondorf. Given to you when you free all the Sages and go to the Temple of Time. Both Deku Nut - A very neat weapon. When used you throw it and it explodes in a bright flash of light that paralyzes your foe for a small amount of time. These can be found just about anywhere, bushes, shops, enemies, etc... For an upgrade that allows you to carry 30 Deku Nuts bring the Mask of Truth to the Forest Stage and talk to the big Deku Scrub that pops out of the ground. To carry even more (40) go to the area in the Lost Woods right before the Sacred Forest Meadow (right, left, right, left, forward, left) and blow up the boulder with a Bomb. The first Business Scrub should sell it to you for 40 rupees. Bombs - Blows up boulders, walls, and enemies. Bombs can be found anywhere. The Bomb Bag is found in Dodongo's Cavern. Din's Fire - Uses MP6 of your Magic Meter. Sets an Atomic Bomb style explosion all around you. Anything in about a 10 Link steps radius around you will be caught on fire! Given by the 2nd Great Fairy. Farore's Wind - Uses MP6 of your Magic Meter. This can only be used in Dungeons and Temples. When you enter a room and just realize you have to fill your ammo or Magic Meter and the room you just entered is really hard to reach, just pull out Farore's Wind. Use it to create a Warp Point of where you are. When your ammo and magic is restored, just use it again to have a choice of going to your current Warp Point, dispell your current Warp Point, or Cancel. Given by Great Fairy #3. Please see Fairy Fountain Locations. Nayru's Love - Uses MP12 from your Magic Meter (WOW!). It is a defense magic that lasts about a minute or two. Just put it onto a C-button and use it. A blue diamond-shaped sheild will appear around you. You can still ge thrown around but damage will not be inflicted. Given to you by the 5th Great Fairy. Please see Fairy Fountain Locations. Ocarina of Time - Here is the item that the game was named after. Very legendary, it is used to enter the Sacred Realm. It replaces the Fairy Ocarina and is operated just the same. Zelda tosses it to you in her escape from Ganondorf. Please see Ocarina Songs to learn all the songs in the game. Bottles Bottles can be used to store anything that you can't hold with you're bare hands. Such examples are bugs, fish, milk and fairies. There are 4 bottles in all plus a neat little glitch that you've probably already heard about before. Here they all are: #1 - Child - In Lonlon Ranch go into Talon's house while it is daytime. Talk to Talon who is sleeping. He will offer you a game that costs 10 rupees. He will throw 3 Super Cuccos out into a group of normal cuccos. You have to pick up all the Super Cuccos in under 30 seconds. The difference is that Super Cuccos peck at the ground a lot more than normal cuccos. Once you beat the task Talon will give you a Bottle full of milk. #2 - Child - In Kakariko Village near the entrance to the Graveyard talk to the lady near the fenced off pen. You have to collect all of her cuccos. The first one is at the entrance to the Village. Take that one and go to the construction site. Look to the House of Skulltula and float over to the blocked platform. Throw #1 of the platform and grab #2 to jump off. You can then take both to the pen. Near the pen is #3. Take that one to the entrance to the Windmill. Look to see no fence on one side. Float off the fence with the cucco and aim for the corner of the small fence. Throw the cucco over the fence behind you so you can easily reach it again. Walk down the stairway and grab #4 at the bottom. Watch out for the secret grotto. Take #4 back up to the fence and throw it to easy reach. Go back down the stairs and turn right to climb the ladder. There should be #5 at the top of the hill. Float back down to the pen and toss it in. Go back and get the other two cuccos to toss into the pen. #6 is in a crate near the entrance to the house with a man on its roof. Roll into the crate to grab #6. Take it back to the pen. #7 is at the top of the hill near the 2 buildings with no apparent use as a child. Go and toss it into the pen and then talk to the lady. She will give you a bottle after all the hard work. #3 - Child - In Lake Hylia, this one is not optional, it is required to beat the game. Ruto's letter is in it and without that you can't get into Jabu-jabu's Belly. You need the Silver Scale in order to dive deep enough. It is located directly outside of the warp from Zora's Domain to Lake Hylia. Navi will turn green and give its location. Swim right above it before you dive because it is hard to steer while swimming. #4 - Adult - This is the hardest one to get. You should have the three other bottles before you start this one so you can save some running around. You also should have Epona. It is possible without her but we have never seen it be done. While on Epona always have your Fairy Bow ready with a lot of Arrows. There are ten Big Poes in Hyrule Field, they look like regular Poes but much bigger and in yellow garments instead of purple. Once you find one immediately shoot it with 2 Arrows. This could take a lot of practice. After it has fallen prey to your Arrows go up to it and a message will ask you if you want to capture it in a bottle, so make sure you have empty bottles with you. Once you captured it in a bottle go to the former Guard House right before the main plaza in Hyrule Market Town. There should be a one-red-eyed man in a robe there. Show the Big Poe in a Bottle to him and he will put 100 points on your Point Card. Not only that but he will give you some rupees. Once you get 1,000 points on your Point Card. Here are the locations of all the Big Poes: A.) Near the cliff at the entrance to Kakariko Village and the stream leading to Zora's River. B.) When leaving Hyrule Market Town face towards Lonlon Ranch and start going forward to the shrubs. C.) Against the wall to the right of Lonlon Ranch. After the tree. D.) On the outside of the stone wall west of Lonlon Ranch. E.) Go to the meadow with a stream west of Hyrule Market Town. Face Lonlon Ranch and gallop towards it. F.) Above the overhang or cliff just outside the entrance to Gerudo Valley and the west side of Lonlon Ranch. G.) Under the overhang or cliff by the entrance to Gerudo Valley and the west side of Lonlon Ranch (right by F.) H.) Heading to Kokiri Forest from Lake Hylia before you reach the small fence. I.) In the tree-filled meadow that is inbetween Lake Hylia and Kokiri Forest. J.) Heading to Lake Hylia from Kokiri Forest near the silver/gray boulder before the opening in the small fence. It will appear on the other side of the fence. Now take the Big Poes to the man and earn a very bad prize for a very hard task, the fourth bottle! The Glitch Bottle - With this glitch you can replace any weapon or item with a bottle. If you replace something only useable by Adult Link you can only use that bottle as an adult. Same goes as a child. Make sure what you replace is something you won't need anymore such as the Magic Bean space if you already planted all of them. You also can use the Biggoron Claim Check space if you have the Biggoron Sword. Any way, the way you do it is you take out an empty Bottle near something you can catch in it, we suggest for example fairies. You will need precise timeing from this point. Use the Bottle on a fairy or fish or bug but as soon as you start the swing, press start and replace the Bottle you are in the middle of swinging with something you don't need anymore. If your timeing is right, you will catch your target with the new item in the Bottle's former C-button. Your new item will now be transformed into a new Bottle. This can be especially handy if you are at a very hard point and need more than 4 fairies. Masks The Happy Mask Shop in Hyrule Market Town has an interesting way of selling their products. Someone (namely you) would came in and be loaned a mask. Then you become a traveling salesman for masks. Only one person in all of Hyrule is interested in a certain mask so you have to find the right person. Once you sold the Mask to the correct person you would go pay back the Store Owner. Some people would pay the right amount of rupees while others pay less than it's worth. Some people will actually pay more than its real price. In order to sell a mask put it on and talk to a person. You can only keep one mask at a time. When all Masks are sold you can choose any Mask to have for free. If you want a different Mask just go ask the Store Owner for a different one. Once you sell all four Masks you get a really neat prize. So here is the list of all the Masks and who to sell them to: Keaton Mask (fox) - Take this Mask to the Guard at the gate to Death Mountain Trail in Kakariko Village. He will pay 15 rupees so you gain 5 rupees since the Mask is only really worth 10 rupees. Skull Mask - This Mask will make the lone Skullkid in the first room to the left in the Lost Woods very happy. Skullkid won't pay the full amount so some rupees will have to come out of your pocket for this one. Spooky Mask - The little kid in the Graveyard will enjoy this Mask because he thinks it will make him look like Dampe the Gravekeeper. Suprisingly he can afford the full pay in rupees. Bunny Hood - The Running Man in Hyrule Field will take a little while to find. When coming out of Hyrule Market Town and into Hyrule Field immediately follow the path to your right. You might be able to see him in the distance. To save time you can play the Sun's Song because he stops and rests at night time. When you finally reach him it has to be night time to sell it to him. If you are out of money you are in luck because he fills your Wallet until it overflows. It is also a good idea to have the Giant's Wallet because you can gain 500 rupees in 3 seconds flat. Mask Prizes Mask of Truth - With this single-eyed mask you can finally put a use to Gossip Stones besides telling time and reacting to weapons and items. Wear this Mask in front of a Gossip Stone and speak to it. It will tell you gossip which can also be used as hints for the game. Goron, Zora, and Gerudo Masks - These Masks are just for fun. Wear them and go talk to people to see what funny things they might say. EQUIPMENT SUBSCREEN (sword, sheild, tunic, boots select, swimming, strength, and ammo status.) Kokiri Sword - The sword you use as a child, you find it through the hole in the wall near the Kokiri Training Ground in Kokiri Forest. Go through and avoid the rolling boulder to find the treasure chest that keeps it. Master Sword - A legendary blade that the Hero of Time uses, namely you as an adult. You find it once you have collected all three Spiritual Stones, got the Ocarina of Time, learned the Song of Time, and played the Song of Time on front of the Door of Time. Biggoron Sword - A giant sword that takes both hands to use so you can't use your sheild. It is twice as strong as the Master Sword. You have to go through a series of trades before you can use it. Here is the entire list of what to do: A.) Talk to the Cucco Girl in Kakariko Village to get an Egg. Wait until after morning for the Egg to hatch into a Pocket Cucco. Take that Pocket Cucco into the house under the Watch Tower. Go over to Talon and wake him up with the Cucco. Take it back to the Cucco Girl to trade it for Cojiro the Blue Cucco. B.) Take Cojiro to the first room to the left in the Lost Woods. Show Cojiro to the Bum against the stump to trade for an Odd Mushroom. C.) You now have a time limit to take the Odd Mushroom to Granny in the Medicine Shop in Kakariko. Do not Warp there! Show the Mushroom to Granny to trade for the Odd Potion. D.) Take the Odd Potion back to the place the Bum was at. Instead of the Bum you'll find a Kokiri Girl. Trade the Potion for the Poacher's Saw. E.) Take the Poacher's Saw to the Boss of the Carpenters in Gerudo Valley. Trade with him for the Broken Goron's Sword. F.) Take the Broken Goron's Sword to Biggoron at the Very top of Death Mountain. Trade it for the Perscription. G.) Once you defrosted King Zora take the Perscription to him. He will trade it for the Eyeball Frog. H.) You're being timed to bring the Eyeball Frog to the Professor in the Lakeside Laboratory. Once again, do not warp there! Go there with Epona. Trade it for the Eyedrops. I.) You have 4 minutes to take the Eyedrops to Biggoron on top of Death Mountain Trail. NO WARPING! Trade it for the Biggoron's Claimcheck. J.)
